It Takes A Village

We all hit rock bottom at some point. Let me tell you about mine.

I was working a mind numbing SEO sales job alone in a cubicle and commuted 45 min each way just to become increasingly miserable as the days went on...

One day, I excused myself and went out to my car. I sat in the driver's seat and literally cried on my steering wheel. Like ugly cry.

I called one of my best friends Simon Sinek (knew he would have some advice for me) and prayed he would pick up.

Lucky for me, he did, and he talked me off the ledge. He said “Why aren’t you teaching? You love it. You need to do it again. It fuels you.”

I had every excuse as to why I couldn’t do it (launch on my own) and he built me up.

I quit the next day and booked my first studio rental to hold my first class.

The rest is history.

Our Mentorship Program (Virtual during Pandemic!) is a fully comprehensive tiered conservatory program, complete with one-on-one mentorship meetings with Artistic Director Murisa Harba to keep you on your guided journey as your career develops.

STEP 1: GROUNDWORK ENGINEER

Welcome to our program! You will start as a Groundwork Engineer where you will UPLEVEL

YOUR THINKING and lay the groundwork for long term success with our signature 

techniques The Macro Method and The Chakra Approach®.
Part 1: The Macro Method – 8 Weeks
Now is the time to pivot your audition strategy and think differently more than

ever! Gone are the days of getting stuck in your head and wondering which choice

to make to impress the casting director...it's about time you booked, isn’t it?


After our 8 week Macro Method Series you will know how to:

  • Stand out in every audition and self tape by leaning into what makes YOU unique.
  • Break down a script in 5 minutes so you can quickly build strong character choices and own your process.
  • ​Think like the person hiring you (the director!) so you can give them exactly what they are looking for.
  • ​Unlock your intuitive truth so you can deliver compelling performances that hook in the casting director.
Part 2: The Chakra Approach – 8 Weeks
Our secret weapon! By linking the mind, the body, and the voice through energy 

centers, this technique empowers you to get out of your head by using your 

whole body and voice as a 'true' instrument to deliver compelling performances…

making you irresistible to casting directors! Are you ready to impress?


After our 8 week Chakra Approach® Series you will know how to:

  • Solidify / Feel confident in your process so you can ENSURE callbacks and bookings.
  • Deepen your emotional capacity and explore your full self-expression so you can IMPRESS.
  • ​Clear out any blocked emotions in the body that could be holding you back from your full performance potential.
  • ​Have control and specificity over your brand of reaction – what makes you, YOU – leading to Oscar worthy moments and the career of your dreams!

STEP 2: LEAPING CREATOR

Once you have The Macro Method and The Chakra Approach® under your belt, you will

graduate as a Leaping Creator to the Process + Freedom Scene Study Track, where you will

use your new tools to step out of your comfort zone, take risks, and push past any

blockages that could be holding you back in a Scene Study Class. This is the place to get

messy and try new things, necessary for growth on your journey!


At this level, you will:

  • Be placed in a Process + Freedom Scene Study Class.
  • Elevate your vocal skills, including defining pitch, volume, rate, emphasis, and pause for character.
  • ​Elevate your movement skills, including refining center, energy, physicality, movement, and gesture.
  • ​Focus on character analysis in your scene work using The Macro Method.

STEP 3: PROCESS OWNER 

As you graduate from Leaping Creator to Process Owner, you will continue in the Process +

Freedom Scene Study Track where you will learn to solidify and own your choices in the full 

spectrum of your career, from cold reads to final performance.


At this level, you will:

  • Continue in a Process + Freedom Scene Study Class.
  • Bring the Macro Method and The Chakra Approach® together, allowing you to feel confident in your process and the scope of your current work.
  • ​Discover, understand, and cement your unique brand of emotional truth.
  • ​Get ready to truly unlock what makes you stand out in a room and use that confidence to book roles!

STEP 4: GENEROUS CONNECTOR

At this point in the program, you have the choice to join our On-Camera Technical Track or 

continue in the Process + Freedom Scene Study Track. In either of these options, as a 

Generous Connector, this is where you will connect on a deeper level, delve further into 

The Chakra Approach®, and hone the chakra layering process.


At this level, you will:

  • Join our On-Camera Technical Track or continue in a Process + Freedom Scene Study Class.
  • Learn how to be generous with yourself, your scene partner, and the audience to transcend the story.
  • ​Mine your emotional depth by going deeper into the chakra layering process, focusing on impulse reduction and knowing how much is needed.
  • ​Truly understand the breadth of what you are capable of and how to summon that under any circumstance.

STEP 5: TRUTH SPEAKER

From here you will graduate to Truth Speaker, where you will feel the first taste of 

emotional freedom within your process; the channel will be free and clear, with nothing 

blocking your vocal, physical, intuitive, and instinctual instrument. Your ability to speak to 

the heart of the scene will begin to engage audiences on a deeper level.


At this level, you will:

  • Continue in an On-Camera Technical Class or a Process + Freedom Scene Study Class.
  • Understand your Brand of Reaction and how to freely use your body to express emotion, utilizing triple chakra chords in every scene.
  • ​Feel in control over physical body and gesture, with every choice specific and purposeful (nothing extraneous).
  • Feel in control over emotional range within energy and voice, actively learning how to leak out vulnerability effectively.

STEP 6: INTUITIVE CRAFTSMAN

From here you will graduate to Intuitive Craftsman, where you will understand on a 

cerebral and intuitive level what is needed in a scene without being told. You will be 

empowered to get there on your own within a true marriage of The Macro Method and

The Chakra Approach®, with the left and right brain equally engaged.


At this level, you will:

  • Continue in an On-Camera Technical Class or a Process + Freedom Scene Study Class.
  • Hone your ability to tap into emotions with a full vocal and physical range and understand the emotional component of what the audience experiences.
  • Make strong, intuitive choices in your scene work without being told.
  • Understand how to fully integrate The Macro Method and The Chakra Approach®, no matter what the circumstances.

STEP 7: ELEVATED ARTISAN

From here you will graduate into Elevated Artisan, where you will learn how to flawlessly 

play your body like the true instrument it is; a masterful musician utilizing triple chakra 

chords and layered, nuanced work. You will understand the greater meaning of each story 

and the importance of each character portrayed. You will channel the elevated meaning of 

your work and your connection to the audience.


At this level, you will:

  • Continue in an On-Camera Technical Class or a Process + Freedom Scene Study Class.
  • Flawlessly utilize techniques from both The Macro Method and The Chakra Approach®.
  • Know how to create layered, nuanced moments every time.
  • Execute a level of sustained, professional excellence within your scene work for true audience transcendence.

Mentorship Meetings

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

An award-winning actor and director, Murisa Harba is a New Jersey native who is a leading acting teacher, coach, and thought leader in Los Angeles. Murisa founded ABOUT THE WORK, an actor’s studio in Hollywood, in 2013 on the principle of challenging students to stretch themselves out of their comfort zones in a safe environment. She is a recognized expert in incorporating energy and chakra practices in her teaching and directing, offering innovative ways for students to explore and develop characters through strong, concrete, physical choices. 

After successful careers as a professional ballroom dancer and theatre/film actress, including touring with Dancing with the Stars, she now also directs movement and choreographs for many musical artists, music videos, video games, films and commercials. Her ability to merge the world of physical movement with storytelling sets her apart within the industry. Murisa also teaches The Macro Method cold reading technique, On-camera scene study, and The Chakra Approach® acting classes at the SAG-AFTRA Conservatory while serving on the Conservatory Committee. Murisa received her BFA from Boston University's College of Fine Arts, which was a place that truly fostered her craft. In turn, she created ABOUT THE WORK to continue that mission for others.
